Great Expectations!

I would be shocked if you didn't know this but I am a huge fan of Grey's Anatomy. Last night the "Great Expectations" episode was probably one of the best I have ever seen. At the end Burke proposes to Christine:

CRISTINA: "I was right. I swear I really believe what I did was right. I don't want you to forgive me. Frankly, I'd find it patronizing if you did. Because... while I know I was right, you think I'm wrong. Which doesn't matter... because... I'm in this. I'm in this for the long haul. And I'm in this to finish the race. So if that means I don't win this one, then fine. I don't win. You win. I'm talking. See? I'm talking first. You win."

PRESTON: "Marry me."

and George proposes to Callie:

GEORGE: "Everytime I look at you... I feel better. It shocks me. It knocks my wind out, but it's true. I don't have to have sex with you, I'd be happy just look at you from across the room. Even that, anything, any piece of you. And, hopefully, all of you... that'd be the best thing. Because I love you..."

CALLIE: "George-"

GEORGE: "Marry me. Will you marry me?"

I was so happy for the both of them. And then Meredith does her voice-over at the end:

MEREDITH: [narrating] "Sometimes the expected simply pales in comparison to the unexpected. You got to wonder why we cling to our expectations, because the expected is just what keeps us steady. Standing. Still, the expected's just the beginning, the unexpected is what changes our lives."

I've decided to use that last voice-over as the signature on my email. Why you ask? Because, I pray for the unexpected to happen to me all the time...I eagerly await "possibility"....and I truly, truly hope that prayers will be answered.

Another Firth-Fest

Been watching Bridget Jones 1 & 2 back to back today. Can't help but wonder when I'll get my own "Mark Darcy." I love this picture of Colin Firth. He is like candy on a stick...

Another Cruise Excursion

I have wanted to swim with the sting-rays for years and I will finally get to do it in March when I go to the Grand Cayman Islands. I am soooooo excited!! I know all about Steve Erwin but I figure if it truly is my time to go then nothing is going to stop it. Over 3000 people a day feed these things, unlike the one Steve was near. These guys are pretty tame. So, I'll be taking lots of pictures and fulfill another dream.

More Colin

He is delicious! Absolutely delicious!! To me, there is nothing sexier than a smart man. Honestly, I would take ugly over dumb. Luckily, Colin is neither!!

Been a crazy day around here, just trying to get caught up on some small things. I spent much of the morning at school getting applications, letters of recommendations, etc. printed out and prepared to be sent as soon as my transcripts come in. Applying for PhD programs is expensive!! I was speaking to my friend Patti today and got to thinking about a typical application:

Application fee: $50
Transcripts from 6 schools: $34
GRE Scores: $15
Acceptance into a good PhD program: Priceless!

I'm applying to 7 schools...that's $700....Absolutely worth it! I'll continue to keep you updated on the progress....

As a side note: 60 days until I'm basking in the Caribbean...oh yea!

The Lovefest Continues....

I know it's a little early for my 2007 Christmas list to Santa, but oh dear, DEAR Santa, please put this man in my stocking! I think Colin Firth is one of the sexiest men alive. I've been watching Bridget Jones again, both movies, and just find myself drooling at the site of him! And, to top it off, do you SEE the color of his shirt? Purple, that's right....and we all know I'm a purple kinda gal...

On another note, today I did the final submission of my PhD applications to Michigan and Ohio. Still haven't heard from NZ so must carry on. Next week I'll be finishing up my applications for Tennessee, Cincinatti and Tulane. Hopefully someone will think I'm worthy enough for a PhD program!!

If not, I'm selling everything I own and going after Colin....

Happy New Year!!

This past week I had the opportunity to go see Blood Diamond with William. What a POWERFUL movie! As a geologist I was really interested in this movie. I wanted to see what the diamond trade was all about. I didn't expect, however, to see so many deaths! I cannot even begin to imagine living in a country where civil war rages as depicted in this movie. Never knowing when, or if, rebels will invade your village, killing everyone without regard or remorse, is completely unfathonable to me. I imagine this is what Iraq must be like. I highly recommend this movie, but be careful with the kids. *Side note - not sure I will ever buy a diamond again.*

Another *perk* to this movie was Leonardo DiCaprio. Now mind you, I've never been a huge fan of his, but let me tell you that he really got me going in this movie! He's matured, the scruffy look works for him, love the rough-and-tough persona....I found him absolutely, totally, unwaveringly irresistible! I would SOOOOO let him have me!!!
