Final Countdown....

Can't you just hear the music?!?! I think the group was Berlin but I'm not positive. I figure Miranda is the Queen of Wikipedia...she'll find the answer for us!!

Tomorrow is the big day...yep, I'll be leaving Wilmington and heading to my new home in Knoxville. Today is filled with the last minute packing and getting ready to complete the process. I also have to go buy a refrigerator for my new house.

I'll be in my new home by Friday and internet access will be back on sometime Saturday. I'll try to post a little something on Saturday night to let everyone know I made it okay. I miss my friends already....*sigh*

It's a new adventure...a new challenge...and I hope you'll stay with me for the ride!!

Will touch base with you all soon,
Paleogirl René

My Paleo Group

Just sharing a picture of my Paleo group here in Wilmington. They are such a great group of people!! I'm going to miss them when I leave. From the left front: Elsie the Dog, Michelle, Christy, Brian....in the back: Dr. Laws, Patti, Tricia, me, and Faik. I can't believe my time here is coming to an end. I will miss Wilmington....but most especially, I will miss my friends...except for Brian because he just moved to the Knoxville area and has promised to come over for dinner when I make fish tacos and shit bombs.

Just for Today...

Today, I am a mess. I'm fearful. I'm scared. I'm having mini panic attacks. It's one week until my move and I'm nervous. I'm trying to remember to breathe...really, I am. I'm so afraid my house is going to fall through and I'll be left homeless one week before my move. As a person who doesn't like big changes this one is a doozy!

I've said several prayers and have worked like a mad woman today to keep my mind off of things. One thing I keep remembering is to think "Just for today do not worry!" I got this from Doug Blasdell...a trainer on the BravoTV show Workout that passed away this past season. He was my hero on that show...a real person, not like the characters I enjoy on my doctor shows. So...he had these principles that he lived by and he kept this little piece of paper folded up in his wallet with them on there. They are as follows:

Just for today do not worry!
Just for today do not anger!
Honor your parents, teachers, and elders!
Earn your living honestly!
Show gratitude to all living things!

I'm trying to live by these principles. Each time this fear crops into my head I keep thinking "Just for today do not worry!" but it's not so easy...

Thank you Doug, wherever you are, for all you have done for me today.

Update

My life has been so busy that I've barely had time to breathe! As you know from a previous post, I am moving to Knoxville at the end of this month. I tried to get my landlord here to allow me to stay for an extra month but they wanted to charge me an extra $300 per month...$1200 in rent...I don't THINK so!! Not for this place. So, I had to get going on finding a place in Knoxville.

I BOUGHT A HOUSE!! Yes, you read that right, I bought a house in Knoxville!! I spent 3 weekends in a row up there looking for a place while still finishing school here. It paid off...my house closes on the 31st of this month. It's cute....3 bedroom, 2 bath, 2 car garage. Finally, a place of my own!! I expect everyone to come visit as I will have a guest bedroom. I calculated my rent here in Wilmington over the past 5 years and I have paid *gasp* $42,000 in rent...with NOTHING to show for it!! Buying a house only makes sense. Thank goodness I have my VA though as I didn't have to put anything down.

School finished okay. I am officially done with classes for my master's degree. I think I may try to come back in December and walk for graduation. It would be great to go through the hooding ceremony. But not as great as when I'll get my PhD. I am going to miss my friends though. I've grown quite comfortable at UNCW over the past 4 years.

I've also been working on my thesis and my laboratory experiments. My brittle sea stars are not happy campers. For some reason they don't like being spun in a round tank with sand and mud moving all around them...especially when I heat up the water. The good part about my thesis is that while this is happening for 3 hours I get to write, etc. I should be able to defend my late July, early August...YAY ME!!

This past week was all of the season finales of my favorite shows. I'm not sure if you know it or not but I LOVE The Office. The first time it was on tv I watched and thought "what the heck is this show about" but I have come to absolutely love it. My friend Christy let me borrow her DVD's of the British version...too flippin funny!!

Guess that's all for today. I'll try to update a little more frequently now.
